L'histoire se déroule dans un futur post-apocalyptique. 1000 ans après la destruction de la Terre par les Gaunas, ce qu'il reste de l'Humanité ère dans l'espace à bord du Sidonia, un gigantesque vaisseau spatial, et tente de survivre comme elle peut. Cependant, les Gaunas sont bien décidés à exterminer ce qu'il reste du genre humain et poursuivent le vaisseau sans relâche. Pour se défendre, les hommes ont alors créés des robots géants, les Sentinelles, afin de se défendre contre ces redoutables ennemis. Nagate Takinaze, un jeune habitant du Sidonia, qui vivait reclus dans les immenses sous-sol de celui-ci, va devenir le pilote d'un de ses robots protecteurs, le Tsugumori.

Très bon japanime !!! Au début le chara design peut rebuter certains mais une fois que celui ci est intégré, l'anime est vraiment prenant. Pas vraiment un anime de type meccha mais plus axé science fiction. L'histoire bien que flippante (si l'on transpose à notre futur) s'avère intéressante et le rythme est assez rapide entre chaque "événements". Je ne suis pas anime meccha d'haude mais là, je ne vois pas le temps passé. 8/10
